T-Day

Speed posting to get to the good stuff!

Jane, loaded up on the baby warmer and ready to roll.

Rolling...

And here she is!

Holy cats, those cheeks! Could you just die? Who knew so much chunky goodness was lurking under all the tape and plastic?

Jane's surgery went swimmingly. No issues at all -- her oxygen was fine, her heart was great, her trachea was unremarkable. They return babies directly to the ICN instead of going to an intermediate recovery room, and as soon as she got back she started to wake up. Surprised everyone, frankly. They got her sedated right up, and they'll keep her that way for a while. It'll be a week before she's allowed to move around much so that the stoma (oh, lord, a whole new vocabulary) can heal.

Enough! Look at our girl! She's so darn cute that when the tape was taken off her eyes after the surgery was completed (Awesome Nurse Angela went down to OR and got to watch the whole thing, and yes I was jealous -- don't you know me by now?) even the anesthesiologist went "Aw!"

I can't wait to see her realize that her mouth is free! That no one is going to push her hands away from her face! That a whole new world is about to open up for her.

OMG!! THOSE CHEEKS!! I knew that there was some goodness in there and now you can take it all in; along with a new vocabulary. Glad it all went well and I am so excited for her to figure out what has happened and to get to explore her mouth and chew fingers! Hope that Sarah is feeling better as I am sure that she is aching to see her sister. You know what's next don't ya??? Don't ya...I know you can't say it out loud but I am screaming it (inside my head ofcourse as not to stick the cheese finger up at the universe) but I know that there is a whole new carpeted area waiting for Jane...or perhaps hard wood...not sure but I know it's location. Prayers of strength and healing as always.

Thank my God, and every other Diety in the Universe. Knew she would get through this okay. She's not come this far to stop now. And, those cheeks!!!! Just want to squeeze them to pieces!!! Cindy's going to be missing the toes, but she might be willing to settle for those cheeks!!!! I just want to pinch, pinch, pinch!!!!!!!I know this brings her recovery to a whole different level. But, hopefully, this gives her more time for the lungs to grow and get healthy. Knew she would ace this - with her running shoes and all. Thanks for sharing this latest epic struggle. Looking forward to the next page, with lots of hope and prayers. Love, Ann

Oh my goodness!!! That face is so freakin' cute! And her cheeks are so poochy, I also want to sqeeeeeeeeze them. I'll have to settle for a virtual cheek squeeze. It's very exciting, and I'm so glad she's going to get to suck on her fingers and make more noises and all that stuff!
